Brief Update Fall 2011

Richard and I were in Southern California visiting family this summer, and on our way home, I snapped a photo of this train. We also drove to Little Rock, Arkansas to see family, some photos of which I might post later. I finished my novel, The Listener, which feels wonderful, but for some reason, I’m still not in the mood to blog much. So updates will continue to be sporadic. There’s an extensive archive, however, for anyone who’s interested. I’m in between art series and plan to get started in earnest on my new one after the holidays. We’ve had family visiting, more family coming, and some delicious evenings eating outside at our patio table under the twinkly lights, gorging on peaches and heirloom tomatoes. Swimming at Whiskeytown Lake  has been outstanding this year. We watched two baby ospreys get raised from hatchlings to young fledglings in an eyrie perched on the edge of the cove we like to swim. We had a kick ass lightning storm about a week ago that rivaled anything I’ve seen in the Midwest, but fortunately, our mild and unusually wet summer meant that wildfires were kept to a minimum and easily contained. After the lightning siege of 2008, which prompted the beginning of this blog, that was a huge relief. This mild weather has also meant that I’ve been able to do quite a bit of Rollerblading along the beautiful river trail here in town.

Hoping everyone has a lovely fall!  I’ll be back when the spirit moves me.
